Fan Project: Tomb Raider Sumeria

As I had mentioned before in previous posts, we don't just want to focus on the games and movies we also want to focus on the fans. To many Lara Croft has been an inspiration, over the past thirteen years fans has created stories about her untold adventures, created sites, drew images of her and cosplayed as her. However a group of TR fans in France are setting out to create Lara Croft's first French fan film.

Official Synopsis:
7000 years ago, the Sumerian civilization, from Mesopotamia, invented religions, laws and scripture. Its language remained undecipherable for thousands of years, and nowadays very few people are skilled to read it. Nobody knows why this civilization disappeared, but its heritage is tremendously important...
In 1995, the archeologist John Berjerack found a mysterious tablet on the land which was once the Sumerian kingdom. He studied it during 6 months until he inexplicably went missing. The tablet was preserved in a museum until a mysterious tomb raider named Pierre Dupont stole it.
A person working for a powerful organization, Metalium Corp., meets Evan Caillère, an expert in Sumerian myths. Looking at some photographs of the tablet, Evan Caillère confirms the result of Berjerack’s researches: it contains an old Sumerian language. Then Evan Caillère is asked to decipher the tablet as fast as he can. Answering to his visitor, Caillère says he knows someone experienced enough to chase Pierre Dupont… her name is Lara Croft. Spelling out the tablet, Evan reads: “The Stele Stone is the origin for their absolute power, our city is just a haven, a base for a great journey”.
Lara Croft agrees to catch Pierre Dupont and to retrieve the tablet. With the help of Evan Caillère, she goes to Mesopotamia. It seems that Lara’s rival wants the stele stone relic. Why ? What for ? What are the relic powers ?
Lara will chase him from a lost jungle, location which has no reason to be, to ancient town ruins, where she will discover all the truth about the stele stone… And fight again with her best rival, Pierre Dupont…

Even though they don't have a Hollywood budget, this film still looks incredible and is packed with action filled moments. At the moment the film is at 70% completion, but keep visiting back here for news of it's release and make sure to keep visiting the site, which has both English and French section.

Portraying Lady Lara Croft is Tiphaine Vaudable, who you might have seen on numberous Tomb Raider sites, she is a well known Tomb Raider Cosplayer who owns Tomb Raider Spirit along with Max. Playing the part of Pierre DuPont is Jérôme Caillére who has portrayed Pierre before in photos. Renan Kerdraon plays Evan Caillére, Lara's aid in the movie who is an expert in Sumerian mythology. The character of John Berjerack, an archeologist who discover a tablet in the region which was one part of the Sumerian kingdom. The movie also stars Aurélien Sallé who plays a role of a mysterious stranger.

Batman: Arkham Asylum European Launch Day

Yesterday was the launch of the much awaited new Batman Game by Rocksteady Studios and Eidos in Europe. The game was released in America on the 25th August.

Earlier this year I had attended London Film and Comic Con and played the demo version of the game. I am very impressed escpecially with the graphics and the atmosphere and the style that Rocksteady Studios has created in the game.

"In Batman: Arkham Asylum, developed by Rocksteady Studios, the player assumes the role of Batman as he delivers The Joker to Arkham Asylum. There, the imprisoned super-villains have set a trap and an immersive combat gaming experience unfolds. With an original script penned by Emmy Award-winning Batman writer Paul Dini, the game brings the universe of DC Comics’ detective to life with stunning graphics"Quote from Official MySpace for Arkham Asylum

Article: Refusing Angelina?

If you have been following the Tomb Raider news over the past few months that you would had known that there is a brand new film currently being made. It has also been officially announced that Angelina Jolie who has starred in both films as the leading lady will not carry on her role. This article will be looking at; Is it a good choice to change the actress?

Let  me give you a bit of back-story about the films. In 2001 Paramount Pictures released the first Tomb Raider Movie starring Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie. It most successful video game adaptation to date, grossing $300,000,000 worldwide. The success led to another Tomb Raider film later called The Cradle of Life with was released in 2003. At the same time Core Design (company in charge of the Tomb Raider copyright at the time) released Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, which received lower scores for it's glitchy graphics and awkward control schemes. Reviews and sales started to fall even though the advertisement for the game was as well structured. The decrease in sales may be the reason why the second film was less popular then the first.

Tomb Raider II now on the Playstation Store

Tomb Raider 2 is now avalible through the Playstation store, priced at $5.99 and is an estimated size of 197mb. Avalible in America.

Tomb Raider was released in 1997, following the sucess of the original. The creator of the series, Toby Gard, had left the company following the portrayal of the protagonist. Lara voiced by Judith Gibbins is on a quest to find the dagger of Xian.

Angelina Jolie's mother leaves the majority of her money to Grandchildren

Angelina's Jolie's Mother has left $100,000 each to Zahara, Shiloh and Maddox, court papers filed in Los Angeles on last Monday reveal. Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007 and Angelina and her brother James Haven were co-executors of the estate. Her estate was worth approximately $661,000.

Angelina Jolie was Lady Lara Croft in the last two Tomb Raider Films. She under went aggresive training for the both films training in firearms, gymnastics, and elecution. In recent interviews Angelina had amitted that she had wanted to carry on with the series. Who will replace her as Lara Croft is not yet been annonced. Keep visiting back for more details.

If you want to find out more about Angelina Jolie I recommend Angelina Jolie Fans, IMDB and one of my favourite sites Angelina Jolie Web. If you want to find more information about the Tomb Raider movies you can try IMDB, Tomb Raider Chronicles and the Official site.

Rhona Mitra in Re-Uniting the Rubins

Re-Uniting the Rubins is in post production. The movie is a comedy stars Rhona Mitra, former Lara Croft Model. It is directed by Yoav Factor who also wrote the screenplay. It is due to be released later this year.

Rhona was the Official Lara Croft Model appointed by Eidos to promote the Tomb Raider game. She was the first model for the series for 1997. As her time as Lara, she under went special media training for press interviews appearing at E3 and ECTS. She was fired from her job with Eidos. In a early documentary it said that Rhona had refused to do a selection of public appearences claiming that appearing would be "Unlike Lara".

If you want to find out more about the Lara Croft Models I highly recommend Tomb Raider Live and Croft Generation. Both Sites are brilliant and contain a huge amount of information on Rhona Mitra as well as the other Lara Croft Models. For more information on the film I recommend IMDB. Guns and Grapple has a section on Karima Adebibe and another on Alison Carroll, both are the lastest two official Models.

Introduction

Welcome to the new Guns and Grapple website.
I've been thinking about the site for quite a while now. The problem that a lot of website owners face is trying to find a website that has free web space however trying to find this is not easy. There is freewebs which is a good host up up to a point where you're site becomes bigger. There is wix which lets you create a flash website however it has less free space then freewebs. There was Geocities however unfortunately they are now closing their doors.

I thought it was time to review what direction I wanted the site to be going in. I really like doing the news and I noticed that there was a few articles some websites copied for their website (I don't mind you doing this, but please can you link back to my site) . I like finding out new information that other sites don't have yet or taking a different look at things. I noticed that there are Tomb Raider sites that put the news on their site but only focus about events that are on the games or the movies, whereas I plan on delivering news about people that been involved in the games, interesting fan projects, news about the games and movies, new adverts and basically anything to do about Tomb Raider. I also want to bring you a side of Tomb Raider that we haven't seen before, not because we can't but because fans didn't have all the right information before.

The sections with freewebs will still exist and you can get to them via the sidebar. We will still have the Theme of the Week, Quote of the Week, Merchandise of the Week and Fact of the Week as well as brand new features. However the plan is not to focus on making new sections but finding out new information, interviews and I am planning on writing articles based on different aspects on the Tomb Raider franchise.

Now that the site is with blogspot we are hoping to get lots of new projects underway for example, I am currently writing a story for a charity appeal due to be released here in mid October, more details to come. We are also trying to load up something special for Christmas.

Enjoy and make sure to keep visiting back!
