The one constant in all her depictions, which include comic books, novels and even theme park rides, is her caricatured female figure, with the original game designer joking in an interview that her enhanced breasts were caused by a "slip of the mouse".

1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

It's seems strange to be writing this since it doesn't feel like it's been a year but today is the first anniversary of Guns and Grapple being online, and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped me over the past year and the months before it was on the internet.

Ostercy, Katie, Jana, Tanya, Max, Keeley, Ms.Nemeth, Karen, Luce, Sam, Emma-Rose, Gavaudin, Charmaine, Bex F, Becky B, Rebecca H "Gene",   Justin,  cubbie866 and kls010, and of course my family and friends who have been forced to put up with my obcession over the past few years.

Over the past few months we have used several free website hosts including webs.com, facebook, blogspot, freeforums, and if anyone wants to create a Tomb Raider site I highly recommend them.

Tomb Raider/Torchwood Crossover

In my previous posts I have mentioned that I would be writing a story to raise money for Children in Need. The story is a Torchwood and Tomb Raider crossover called "Past and Present" and will begin in Lara's past while on a journey with her father to London. The story is split into chapters which will be released daily.

At them moment my sister is still editing the last few chapters and when they're finshed I will begin the project. You can donate to Children in Need via a box that I will put on the site. You can give money through paypal via the justgiving website. You can donate as much as you want even if it's just 1p. Thank you for any donations.

Children in Need is a charity based in the UK. It helps disadvantaged children. Every year BBC1 holds an appeal show to raise money. Last year for the appeal show CIN recieved £20,991,216. Click here for the official site.

I wanted to write a Tomb Raider and Torchwood story because if anyone has watched Day 4 of Torchwood: Children of Earth, you might probably understand why...Bring him back! Anyway it's a story which is unusual to write and I wanted to interest people, I didn't want a crossover which people have read before. Also Torchwood star, John Barrowman is also involved this year, he is taking part in the "Around the world in 80 days" challenge.

The upcoming Tomb Raider artwork book will contain 568 pages of high quality Tomb Raider art from Lara's first adventure back in 1996. The new book, created by Dreams and Visions Press, delves deeper behind the scenes of the games and uncovers a selection of new unseen concept art, production storyboards, and promotional art. It also features the first sketches of Lara Croft by Toby Gard.

The art book comes in two volumes which is keep together in a beautiful slipcover case (design to the right)


The special edition is limited to 2000 copies worldwide! The pre order price for this book has now closed and it will cost $125 instead of $110.

UPDATE: Tomb Raider Special Lettered Edition (Signed)

Dreams and Visions Press have also revealed that they are making a special exclusive lettered edition of which only 5 copies of this edition is left. The total number of limited edition lettered books are 26 marked A-Z. The books are not copies or prints but a one-of-a-kind signed piece of Tomb Raider art. It will feature two original sketches from James Kenny who worked on Angel of Darkenss and Daniel Cabuco who sketched art for Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. The price is still undecided but it will be priced around $400US to $8000US...I know, I will give you the decided price when I get it. Overall Greatest Video Game Hero Result

The overall winner of Gamespot's Greatest Video Hero is Half-life protagonist, Gordon Freeman who won 55.8% of the votes. Mario who beat Lara Croft got what he deserved only getting 44.2% of the votes.

Voice of Lara Croft; Keeley Hawes recently attended the Audi Showroom Party on Monday 12 October with Ashes to Ashes co-star, Philip Glenister.

Keeley has returned to her role as DI Alex Drake from BBC One's "Ashes to Ashes" along side Philip Glenister (DCI Gene Hunt), Dean Andrews (Ray Carling), Monserrat Lombard (Shaz Granger) and Marshall Lanchester (Chris Skelton). With the streets filled with criminals, Gene Hunt and his team must get to the scene of crime as quickly as possible, how? By travelling in the might Audi Quattro.

The party was celebrating the largest Audi center just opened in West London (UK) the new building runs the 190,000 sq ft Audi centre which employs 100 staff. Audi UK invested £45 million in the showroom which is expected to have around 30,000 customer visits in the next 12 months.

Nell McAndrew's Half Marathon Results

Nell McAndrew recently ran in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, and as promised we have got the results for her half marathon.

She was the sixth fastest female runner and the fastest female celebrity! She also beat her target time of 1 hour and 35 minutes, crossing the finishing line at 1 hour and 26 minutes.

"It was such a great day and the atmosphere was amazing.  There were runners in fun costumes, my favourite being a carrot and a runner bean (!) and there were plenty of others cheering us along.  The feeling you get when you cross the finish line is incredible - I would recommend it to everyone and can’t wait to do it again next year!"

Rhona Mitra guest stars in "Stargate Universe"

Former Lara Croft Model Rhona Mitra, will guest star in Sky's new program "Stargate Universe" in the 19th and 20th episodes of the first season. Rhona plays the character Commander Kiva later in the series.

Stargate Universe is a new series based off of Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. It also stars David Blue, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Robert Carlyle, Patrick Gilmore along with many others. Click here to find out more about the show.

Over the past few months she has been involved in photoshoots and advertisments (which you can see at her section at GAGM). Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon

Today is the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in which the runners will run 13.1 miles. The race began at 9:30.

Regestration is obviously closed however you can still join the 2010 event.

As mentioned before in previosu news posts, former Lara Croft model; Nell McAndrew will be running.

Nell McAndrew, former official Lara Croft model, has released a video about her marathon as she prepares for the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on 11th October. She has been using Nokia 5800 to aid her in her marathon training.

New Ashes to Ashes set photos!

Today the Daily Mail and The Sun released photos of the new fashion from Series 3 of Ashes to Ashes. The photos feature Keeley Hawes (current voice of Lara Croft) in her new outfit and Ashes to Ashes co-star Monserrat Lombard playing Shaz Granger. Free Boots No.7 leaflets

A few ago while in Boots I noticed that they are now giving out No.7 leaflets. The leaflet features their new product (Extravagant Lashes Mascara) and a photo of Keeley Hawes who is the face of the brand since 2008. On the back of the leaflet is a guide to show the reader how to apply the eye shadow like Keeley is wearing on the oppisite side.

If you live near a Boots store, you might want to pick one of these up. It's free and has an image of the current voice of Lara Croft.

Nell McAndrews Fitness Tips Revealed

In her latest blog, former Lara Croft Model; Nell McAndrew talked about the her new Nokia which she used for her fitness training to prepare for her half marathon on the 11th October. She also said that she is training with Jackson Williams:

"I have been using my Nokia 5800 Comes With Music device to help me train.  It’s an amazing mobile phone which gives me unlimited access to download millions of music tracks – great for keeping motivation up!  I’m really loving I’ve got a feeling – Black eyed peas at the moment, it never fails to keep me smiling and keep me going.

I’ve also downloaded an app called ‘Nokia Sports Tracker’ from the Nokia Ovi Store onto the phone.  I’m not too good with complicated technology, so luckily this is really easy to use.  Before each training session I just switch on Sports Tracker and my speed, route and time are all monitored.  It’s been great at helping me compare each session and see how I’m improving. "

Also in her Blog, Nell had revealed some of her warming up stratagies 

"Before your run, take 10-12 minutes to warm up by

Slow jogging for three minutes

Lunges and squats for two minutes

Long, leaping running strides with your front knee high and back leg fully extended for one minute

Dynamic Stretches, move with the stretch but do not bounce, for three minutes

Heel kicks and high knees for two minutes"

 

She also promised a new video with more tips also starring Jackson Williams.
